Due to a shortage of available volunteers, the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum has paused its Throttle Time Program.
Throttle Time
Have you ever wanted to operate a diesel locomotive? You can at the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum! Our Throttle Time Program allows you to climb up into the cab of real diesel engine, pull back on the throttle, ring the bell and blow the horn. Learn how to handle a real locomotive with supervised engineer experience.
The program is open to anyone 18 years of age or older who holds a valid driver's license, can meet the physical standards, and other requirements. All time slots must be reserved in advance, as availability is limited. We reserve the right to cancel appointments and change equipment as needed.

Museum Hours
We will be open Saturdays starting May 9, 2026.
Standard hours are from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm.
The museum operates on Central Time (Chicago Time)
