Steam Excursions

Experience the sights, smells, and sounds of a live working steam locomotive! Take an excursion behind Bock Lumber Company No. 1 as it puffs along the rails. Ride aboard this countryside excursion in one of our vintage cars. This unique Forney-type steam locomotive was built in 1908 and recently completed a multi-year restoration.

Our steam excursions depart from our depot in North Judson and travel through the rural farm country of northern Indiana. Listen for the whistle as we chug along our historic railroad corridor.

Civilians and Soliders in History Day

The first steam excursions of the 2025 season will on Saturday, July 19th during the Civilians and Soldiers in History Day. Steam trains depart from the depot in North Judson at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm CDT. Don't miss your chance to experience the sights, smells, and sounds of a live steam locomotive!

Regular Steam Excursions

Regular steam excursions will be held on August 2nd and September 13th with departure times at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm CDT. These excursions will operate out of the North Judson depot with a roundtrip journey to the Kanakee River Bridge at English Lake and return.

Steam Ice Cream Trains

Enjoy a cool refreshing summer treat from our friends at Sallie's Small Batch Ice Creams before boarding the steam train to enjoy a leisurely ride. These trains depart on Saturday, August 30th from our depot in North Judson at 11:00 am, 1:00 pm, and 3:00 pm CDT. Our Ice Cream Trains are a new fan favorite!

Steam Pumpkin Trains

Climb aboard our Steam Pumpkin Trains every Saturday this October! Enjoy a scenic autumn ride behind a real steam locomotive, then stop at our pumpkin patch where kids can pick their very own pumpkin to take home. It's a fun fall tradition for the whole family - don't miss out on this unique seasonal experience! These steam trains leave the depot in North Judson at 10:30 am, 12:30 pm, 2:30 pm, and 4:30 pm CDT on October 4th, 11th, 18th, and 25th.

  Infants and toddlers may ride the train for free but must ride on a parent's or guardian's lap. Tickets purchased online will be charged a booking fee. Please read our refund policy.

  General seating is available on all steam excursions on a first-come, first-served basis. Seats are limited to one of our open-air cars or a caboose. We cannot guarantee the type of seating you will receive when you purchase your tickets.

  • No smoking, alcohol or pets allowed on the train.
  • There are no working restrooms on the train.
  • All trains operate on CENTRAL TIME (Chicago time).
  • Train times are approximate and we are not responsible for delays.
  • Please arrive at least 30 minutes early, as late boarding is not permitted.
  • We reserve the right to cancel trips and substitute equipment.
