Pumpkin Trains

The Pumpkin Train is one of our most popular trains. Take a fun-filled ride through the crisp rural landscape while enjoying a mix of fall colors! Trains leave the depot in North Judson, Indiana, and take passengers on a leisurely journey.

Our diesel-powered Pumpkin Trains take passengers on a 45-minute, 10-mile round-trip journey from North Judson to English Lake where the train crosses the beautiful Kankakee River before returning to town. We'll drop you off at our pumpkin patch where you can choose the perfect pumpkin for carving!

Twilight Pumpkin Trains

Returning for a second year at the Hoosier Valley Railroad Museum is a twist on a fan favorite - Twilight Pumpkin Trains! These trains leave at dusk and return in the dark. Each of these diesel-powered trains feature an animal show prior to departure.

  Children (Ages 3-15): $14
  Toddlers (Ages 0-2): Free

  First Class Seating
  Lounge Tickets (all ages): $25
  Private Room (seats up to 3): $80

  Infants and toddlers may ride the train for free but must ride on a parent's or guardian's lap. Tickets purchased online will be charged a booking fee. Please read our refund policy.

• Event Details

  Both steam and diesel Pumpkin Trains drop passengers off at the pumpkin patch after their ride. All child ticket holders get to explore the pumpkin patch and choose one regular pumpkin to take home. Additional pumpkins may be purchased on-site for $3.

  Please be aware that steam trains can be dirty! Our steam locomotive burns oil, but there is still plenty of smoke that is filled with particulates that can (and will) stain your clothing.

• Seating Options

  Diesel Pumpkin Trains
  Purchase your tickets for either first class lounge, coach, or open-air car seating. The first class lounge has premium seating in our enclosed business car. The coach is an enclosed, sealed-window car with padded seats. The open-air cars are open to the elements with bench-style seating. You will make your choice when purchasing tickets. If you choose open-air car seating, please remember that our trains run rain or shine.

  General seating is available on our steam excursions. You may choose from either open-air or caboose seating when you arrive, subject to availability.

  • Trains run rain or shine.
  • No smoking, alcohol or pets allowed on the train.
